ST. GEORGE (AP) — An Enterprise man shot and injured by police in April will stand trial on aggravated assault and drug charges.

Michael Dennis Loeffel was shot twice on April 28 during a domestic dispute.

Police say they kicked down the door of a home after Loeffel prevented a woman inside from leaving. Officers say they opened fire because Loeffel was crouched down with a rifle and appeared ready to shoot them.

Prosecutors later charged Loeffel with three counts of aggravated assault, obstruction of justice, unlawful detention, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct.

On Monday, a 5th District judge said there's enough evidence to send Loeffel to trial.
