• The Democrats are gathering in the Mile-High Hopes city of Denver. For four nights, we will hear speeches delivered at an altitude that can bring on lightheadedness.

• The scheduled keynote speaker will be former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner. Virginia is a purple state — half red and half blue. Some voting patterns indicate periwinkle with shades of magenta.

• Among the speakers will be N.Y. Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who may outline his energy plan to put windmills on top of his city's skyscrapers. And if that doesn't work — light up Times Square with incense candles.

• Tuesday night, Chelsea Clinton will introduce her mom, who will introduce her dad. Feeling a bit nervous, Obama will wear an ID badge that says, "Hi, I'm the nominee."
