FARMINGTON — The Davis County Library Board welcomed its newest member, Susan Smith, of Layton, at its meeting Tuesday.

Smith was appointed to the board by the Davis County commissioners on Aug. 12 to fill the vacancy of Carlin Miner, whose term expired this year.

Smith, a fiction and nonfiction children's writer, also runs writing workshops for adults and children. Smith is also a volunteer storyteller at the Central Branch library in Layton. She says she'd like to see more integration between the county library and schools. Library board members serve up to two four-year terms, and Smith's term will expire in June 2012.
