ST. GEORGE — More than 100 pigs were killed in a crash in southern Utah early Monday morning.

The Utah Highway Patrol said the accident happened about 2:19 a.m. on I-15 southbound near Pintura. A semitrailer truck carrying a load of pigs from Milford came into a curve too fast.

"It lost control and rolled into the median," UHP trooper Cameron Roden said Monday.

About 100 pigs were killed in the crash, Roden said. Approximately 60 animals survived. The driver was not injured, but will be issued a citation for the crash.
