McCain no military leader
First, Sen. McCain has not been in a significant leadership role with the military. He's never led during a conflict of any kind, and his military record is mixed, at best. Yes, he was a prisoner of war for a long time and tortured for much of that time, but does this qualify him as a leader? I think people are deferring to him because of his status as a POW. I understand that people wish to be respectful of the time Sen. McCain spent in a prison camp. But his recent posturing toward Russia, along with his stance on the war in Iraq, lead me to believe that he comes from a position of American bravado, which only stands to alienate us further from our allies, just as President Bush has done.
