Shurtleff recovering from leg surgery
Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff is recovering from surgery to repair his badly broken leg.
"He's doing really well. He sounded cheerful," attorney general's spokesman Paul Murphy told the Deseret News after Shurtleff endured about five hours of surgery on Friday.
"He said it hurts a lot, but the surgery went as planned," Murphy added.
Shurtleff underwent a procedure to repair the leg he shattered in a motorcycle accident last year. His left leg is in several halos, with wires and pins affixed to the bone that will not mend.
The attorney general faces at least six months of recovery. In an interview with the Deseret News on Thursday, Shurtleff revealed that his doctors told him that if this procedure does not work, he may face amputation of the leg.
