Doctor charged with prostitution waives hearing
PROVO (AP) A Salem doctor charged with trading prescription painkillers for sex has waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
Instead of a preliminary hearing, Max Cannon will have a pretrial conference on Oct. 21.
Cannon is facing six counts of prostitution and six felony charges related to drug distribution. Court documents say Cannon provided at least one woman with prescription painkillers in exchange for sex. He was arrested in January at a Provo hotel where he had met a woman to make a similar exchange.
