OGDEN — Weber County Sheriff's search and rescue crews recovered a body Sunday evening that was spotted by hikers earlier in the day.

The hikers found the body in area above 29th Street about 3:40 p.m., said Sheriff's Lt. Nate Hutchinson. He said there are a series of trails in that area, including the Waterfall Canyon Trail.

Hutchinson said the hikers who found the body did not have cellphone reception, so they hiked down the mountain to call police dispatch. The hikers then lead search and rescue members back to the area where they found the body Sunday evening, Hutchinson said.

The body was recovered Sunday night, but no additional details were available.

Hutchinson did not have any information about whether the body was that of a male or female, adult or juvenile, whether it had been there for a while or a possible cause of death.
