Thats great. Brown actually gets to PLAY, instead of be a bench warmer. I'd rather have him play overseas for a few years to gain experience and then give it another shot in the NBA. He has the speed, just needs to work on his jumpers a bit. Good luck Dee.

Dee, you are a class act, and I'm guessing most Jazz fans wish you the best in Turkey. With your good attitude and work ethic, I'd not be surprised at all to see you back in the NBA one of these days, and probably sooner than later. Just watch out for those belly dancers over there! Cheers buddy!

I think Dee Brown has a potential to be a good NBA player. But the JAZZ doesn't have the luxury to wait for Brown's potential to be realized. I've seen him play last season and I think he is a 3rd string point guard at this point. He's too small and he sometimes take too long to set up his team's plays. His biggest weakness is not being a reliable 3-point shooter.

For the first time in years, the Jazz had a true role model and they let him get away... Dee Brown is one of the true good guys. He seems to know how lucky he is that he gets to play basketball for a living. He never complains; always looks on the bright side. A real community guy. Good with fans, kids, coaches... He was not the best PG on the team, but he has something that makes you cheer him on. I know I will.

Dee Brown is class act and I wish him the best and hope to see him back in the NBA soon. AK could learn alot from him.
dyc | 5:55 a.m. Sept. 24, 2007
Notice the difference between Brown and AK? Brown just wants to make himself better and is willing to do what needs to be done to become his best. AK whines. Good luck Dee! Hope to see you back in an NBA uniform soon.

Thanks for all your hard work this season - I was hoping it'd work out differently for you but like you say, at least you'll be playing the game you love. It should be a great experience playing and living overseas - GOOD LUCK. I'll do my best to follow your career while you're there.

Good Luck Dee, You will be missed

I just want to wish you many blessings overseas. You will be missed here, but we know that you will do very well over in turkey. Love you!!!

Everybody loves the One-Man Fast Break. The European audience is going to get a good show.
Bad Guy | 9:06 a.m. Sept. 24, 2007
Shouldn't we have kept him to fill the void left by AK?
Anonymous | 9:22 a.m. Sept. 24, 2007
Well, Jazz seem to remember players they liked and do hire guys whi left good impression later on. I'm sure he will develop good jumper and hopefully come back to Jazz in a few years down the road!!

Utah Jazz fans love you Dee! You area a baller, and an all around good guy! Rip it up in Turkey buddy, we'll see you back in the NBA soon, and we'll be rooting you on man.
Blanche | 10:56 a.m. Sept. 24, 2007
Should kept him!! He was a hard worker, more than I can say about a few player. I'll miss him! Good luck Dee!!!!!!!!!!
GarthB | 11:00 a.m. Sept. 24, 2007
Obviously you have alot of fans here in Utah and for good reason. You are an all around class act and guys like you are few and far between in the NBA. I hope you do well in Turkey and are able to return to the NBA soon(hopefully with the Jazz) I will always be a big Dee Brown fan.
FOOfaw | 11:33 a.m. Sept. 24, 2007
Anyone remember the Mo Williams mistake? This was a repeat. Shoulda kept 'im.
Jazz Fan | 12:05 p.m. Sept. 24, 2007
This will be the next Mo Williams. The player that makes the JAZZ BRASS look STUPID. He'll comeback to the NBA, be a great player and not with the Jazz. It'll bite them in the butt. Hey remember when they worked out a kid named Carlos Boozer and decided to get a guy named Curtis Borchart? Yeah, that was another smart move they made...
Calgary Jazz | 12:58 p.m. Sept. 24, 2007
Don't expect Dee to be dominant in Europe, he will be backup to main PG at best. In fact he will be suprised what level of ball he will find there especially if his team competes not only in Turkey, but in Euroleague as well.
Joe | 2:51 p.m. Sept. 24, 2007
I like Dee, expecially as a person. But anybody who thinks of him in terms of Mo Williams just doesn't know the game. A much better comparison is Jacque Vaughn. Extremely hard worker but undersized, poor shooter, and mediocre defender. If he makes it back to the NBA (and I hope he does) it will be as a perennial back-up, just like Jacque Vaughn.

But don't waste any tears on Vaughn. He recognizes what he can do and he got a ring this year backing up Tony Parker. Life could be worse. I hope Dee does as well with his career. He seems like one of the good guys that deserves the best life has to offer.
Moto X | 2:54 p.m. Sept. 24, 2007
Dee is a great guy with a great attitude. We should hire Dee to be with AK all the time hoping the attitude might rub off. Best of luck Dee.

Foofaw--you are kdding right? The difference here is that Mo Williams was being courted by another NBA team. You will notice that Dee Brown was not except as a final resort with the Bucks.

This is YET ANOTHER CASE of Sloans coaching/system getting the most from a player and allowing them to play in the NBA when in fact no other team believes they can play in the NBA. Sloans/Jazz coaching may actually have given him the experience to eventually get back to the NBA someday. Brown would likely have never set foot on an NBA floor if not for the Jazz.

Dee himself realized this is a business and the Jazz upgraded. Tough situation but Dee will land on his feet.
Endicott | 2:57 p.m. Sept. 24, 2007
Price or Brown. Thatīs the cuestions?
haha | 5:02 p.m. Sept. 24, 2007
This sounds like comments on an obituary. He wasnt good enough to make it in the NBA so just face the facts. He was fast and could push the ball and provide energy for a few minutes a game. Big woop. D-Will is our PG. Jason Hart is a good backup and Ronnie Price is an athlete! I'd take price over brown anyday. He can pass, shoot, rebound and he plays his butt off every second hes on the court. So quit bawling over Dee and realize that the jazz got better. OH and by the way, Ronnie Price is a way good guy! I'd want him around my kids much more than i'd want dee brown around them.
Baller | 6:22 p.m. Sept. 24, 2007
Dee Brown can't go!? I dpn't understand that he would rather go to Russia? I watched his game in the Salt Lake Community College and found out just how nice and talented he is. Wherever you go Dee, I'll be right next to my computer, my T.V., or my radio and follow you all the way through, till you get to the NBA,(which you surely will) and get back to the Jazz.
Fanzz | 7:57 p.m. Sept. 24, 2007
Moto x said "This is YET ANOTHER CASE of Sloans coaching/system getting the most from a player and allowing them to play in the NBA when in fact no other team believes they can play in the NBA." what a bleep. They are destroying young talents from beginning. How many have success after leave? or Jazz just can't draft. Last 10 years good draft was AK. I guess Jazz wants brighter ( color) players. Dee never have chance in Jazz. It's best for him to move on.
MemoFan | 7:59 p.m. Sept. 24, 2007
Dee,

I know you are a huge Memo fan. Make sure you look up his family and visit them often. Maybe they can even help you develop your 3-point shot like Memo. Good luck over seas and I hope to see you in the NBA again soon.
Calgary Jazz | 9:25 p.m. Sept. 24, 2007
Galatasaray, thats new Dee's team. Not participating in Euroleague, so not the highest level competition in Europe. And Turkey league is just 4th behind Italian, Spanish and Greek, maybe even Russian league now is stronger. Anyway, good luck.
Dee Fan! | 10:01 p.m. Sept. 24, 2007
Dee!! We will miss you!! I know you will do great in Turkey and wish you the best! We are so glad you get to play basketball this coming season and hopefully we'll get to see you play! Good luck! You're the best!
go illini | 10:32 p.m. Sept. 24, 2007
ya sorry Dee, Sloan likes slow dead beats like jason hart to back up DWill... He doesn't want any spark off the bench...

sorry God made you so quick and exciting to watch with the ability to make plays... we don't need that kind of athleticism in Utah..

you'll have a lot funner in Greece anyway
Bummed out | 11:24 p.m. Sept. 24, 2007
Dee, I thought you were great. I am sorry the Jazz didn't step up and give you more of an interest. Good luck in Turkey and thanks for working hard to help the Jazz get where they did last year. We'll miss you.
Best for Brown | 10:18 a.m. Sept. 25, 2007
I think this is the best way to go for Dee. He provided energy and speed, but why would he want to play for 5 minutes/game? He'll develop more with playing time in Turkey.
Re: Fanzz | 12:12 p.m. Sept. 25, 2007
"I guess Jazz wants brighter (color) players."

Congratulations, Fanzz, you made a race issue out of something that has absolutely nothing to do with race.

The Jazz chose not to re-sign because they decided they would go with a more experienced veteran. Obviously, since Dee Brown is a fan favorite, a lot of people are upset. People are divided over this decision, and understandably so. But turning this into a race issue is absolutely despicable.

I sincerely hope this is a lost-in-translation issue.
Re:Fanzz --Moto X | 3:42 p.m. Sept. 25, 2007
Some people have to make race an issue where it isn't and they ignore the facts. Fans here want decent character guys that win--regardless of the color. Dee is very black and fans here love him but he is not good enough right now to stay on the roster.

I said nothing about the Jazz drafting skills. That said, when you win so much (like the Jazz have) you are always drafting toward the end of the first round and decreases your odds of someone panning out. Just odds.

That said, many of the Jazz players play better on this team and then go on to sub-par results elsewhere. Either that or they totally drop out of the league. Sloan gets the most from most of his players--AK appears to be the exception. Partly Sloans fault but mostly AK's--afterall AK is still logging alot of minutes on the floor and he is producing less and less with those same minutes. AK chooses to lay all the blame at his coaches feet while he is the player on the floor that has the talent and skill to change a game--when he wants.
RE: Fanzz | 11:08 p.m. Sept. 25, 2007
yeah I have to say that your race comment was pretty stupid.
Anonymous | 8:59 a.m. Sept. 26, 2007
Dee Brown is the coolest guy around, I wish him the best...and all you people addressing color...please grow up...it is embarrasing and downright wrong!
Aaron | 3:10 p.m. Sept. 26, 2007
I wish Dee Brown the best and hope he comes back. I do have to say, it has nothing to do with God giving up on him or not. Whether he makes it back is largely in his own hands (and I hope he does).
Anonymous | 8:04 p.m. Sept. 26, 2007
D Brown is the truth as it related to being a point guard. Utah made a decision to split him and d will up because they are good friends, and the
Utah organization felt like Dee was to much of an
influence on D will. It's sad to say, but it's true
GM | 8:57 p.m. Sept. 26, 2007
I wish you well Dee Brown. Your play has been an inspiration - your present a tremendous image / standard for professional athletes of any sport.

By the way:

It does seem like there are several posters who are judgemental, opinionated, and immature. This is Jazz Country. Please grow up.

Jazz will be worse off without you Dee. I think Istanbul will be a blast! Enjoy it and I hope to see back in the NBA again soon. I wish it was here in UTAH :(
Gretzky | 8:57 a.m. Sept. 28, 2007
so how many more guards do the Jazz have to unload?
Levenspiel | 8:43 p.m. Sept. 29, 2007
Galatasaray is the 4-8th team in Turkish league, which is the 4th best league in Europe. They will compete in Europe's 2nd level cup (ULEB cup).

Dee will experience very different atmospheres during both local and international games. There's a great rivalry between 3 Istanbul teams and sometimes it gets real ugly. But it can be awesome, too. If he plays well enough, the fans will show him incomparable love (ask Khaled El-Amin of Besiktas!).

Welcome Dee. Wish you best of luck here!
