@Riverton CougarI really hope you were trying to be ironic. Either that
our you missed Trumps latest twitter melt down last night and the shrill cries
of foul play coming from fox and bretbart.
@ wrz, this is about more than Russia hacking Hillary Clinton's or the
DNC's e-mail account. It is much more involved. Perhaps a little research
on your part would help. May I suggest checking out Esquire magazine, who ran a
pre-election story (October, 2016) about Putin's ties to Trump. Then
there's the bank connections, that was reported and then mostly ignored.
No, this isn't about e-mails. It's much more. And so far, Putin has
been getting his way. If he wanted to be disruptive to the U.S., this is a
great way to do it short of Trump giving free access to everything to the
Russians. If Trump and the Russians went too far at once, other U.S.
institutions would intervene. But this way, Russia can disrupt incrementally.
Now is the time to bring it to an end.
"Democrats are Democrats, not Republicans.Don't expect big
displays of emotion and shrillness from us. We tend to operate on facts, and do
what needs to be done. We respect quiet competence, not bombastic

rioting in the streets, smashing windows, disrupting traffic, participating in
violent demonstrations shortly after the election. So much for
operating on facts.Democrats have shown their true colors. It's
just ironic that now all of a sudden they care about investigating potential
scandals and wrongdoing in the White House.
re:marxistMueller will do an honest investigation I trust however
this whole investigation is nothing more than a ruse at best and a complete
waste of time. There is nothing there at least regarding the president and his
team. Now if Mueller wants to investigate Susan Rice and her illegal un-masking
then that would be worth while because we know it happened and we know it is a
crime. Same with Hillary and her pay for play with Russian and the Uranium deal
that deposited 2.5 million into her and Billy Bob's bank account. Most of America (other than CNN and NBC) couldn't care less about
this uselss and phony investigation but they do care about getting affordable
health care and tax cuts and high pay jobs. Democrats don't have answers to
the latter nor do they care. Couldn't you and your family benefit from
lower taxes and better job prospects or perhaps money doesn't matter? Just

to handle classified information... a poor Secretary of State leader when it
comes to things like the death of four Americans in Benghazi... and in
relatively poor health.
Hey Vermonter -RE: "Democrats are notably quiet on the
appointment of Mueller."Well yes . . . But what do you
expect?Democrats are Democrats, not Republicans.Don't expect big displays of emotion and shrillness from us. We tend to
operate on facts, and do what needs to be done. We respect quiet competence, not
bombastic nonsense. Compare No Drama Obama to All Drama Trump, and
you'll see what I mean. No Drama Obama who Got Osama quietly did his job
for the most part. But Trump, the Drama Queen that he is, makes a big
show about everything. That describes Republican politicians in general . . .
ALL show and no go. They complain, have temper tantrums, and commiserate with
each other about how victimized they are . . . But when it comes down to
actually governing, Republicans do not have a clue about how to go about it.The Party of Pretense can only pretend. Don’t expect
histrionics from us Democrats. PLEASE don’t confuse us with Republicans.
"Politically a very smart move by Trump" Guess you did not see the
Tweet Storm from the Whiner In Chief about this.
God said to Ttrump supporters: "Come ye forth, and I will give thee a

Vermonter.."Democrats are notably quiet on the appointment of Mueller. There

appointment. Hmmm..."Seriously Vermonter? The Dems have been
all over the news singing Mueller's praise. MSN was full of Democratic
praise for Mueller this morning.Trump signed off....absolutely
wrong..Trump wasn't even informed about the move until after it was done.
He wasn't even given a heads up. Flynn said he had a story to
tell and now we're starting to see it. Pence has portrayed himself as the
willing naÏve. No wonder, far better place to be than a co-conspirator as
he may be. The cover up is where the story is here, along with the
blatant incompetence of Trump and his associates, (hiring Flynn after they knew
he was under investigation).
@wrz "There is nothing wrong or illegal with Trump and/or his election

presidency bid. Doing so does not sway the election. Well, maybe it did. It
would show to the American voter that Trump is a world leader "Nothing wrong? Lying isn't wrong? The Russians planted fake
(that's lying if you don't get it) stories all over personal media to
advance Trump and diminish Clinton.
Of COURSE Trump did nothing wrong. This is because Trump is honest,
fair, even-keeled, trustworthy, thoughtful, polite, gentlemanly, forthright,
admirable, and decent. He is a model of decorum, chaste and pure,
with a glowing halo of goodness surrounding him.Bunnies, downy
ducklings, kittens and unicorns frolic playfully together on the White House
Follow the money rabbit trail. Money can by a lot in the world but not
necessarily happiness. Representative Nunez from California put his
integrity on the line. If Vice-President Pence was part of the Transition Team,
he should have known about Flynn's announcement to their legal counsel. If
Flynn told their chief Counsel, lying to the Vice-President would not be the
reason to fire Flynn would not be the reason only the guise for the President.
The Vice-President has culpability here, also. We don't need an Agnew as
President. The Special Counsel will be good for the situation with a
career of integrity and honor behind him is a benefit for our country. This
President was elected on the basis of making the country great again. This
President says continually he has such a good brain but doesn't believe in
240 years of governance by good people and systems.
@Esquire:"If nothing is there, then the Trump crowd has nothing to
fear."There is something there. The Mueller investigation will
show that Russia hacked into Hillary Clinton's personal server/emails where
classified information was being stored. There is nothing wrong or
illegal with Trump and/or his election campaign team communicating with Russia
(including Putin) about Trump's presidency bid. Doing so does not sway the
election. Well, maybe it did. It would show to the American voter that Trump
is a world leader and is capable of working with other world leaders to fight
the world enemy (ISIS). And if Putin hacked into America's voting
machines that would not be Trump's fault. What swayed the
voter away from Hillary was her naivete re handling of classified information,
continued showing of lack of leadership, and her apparent increase in ill
health. "But the way they are lashing out, Trump too, suggests
that they all know that Trump and his team do not have clean hands."If there is lashing out it's because of the continued Democrat
griping about losing the election.
It's about time. Comey will come out of this looking like the American
hero that he his. Autocrats like Nixon and Trump were foolish to mess with the
FBI. The FBI leaves meticulous paper trails. The only paper trail that Trump
has is stuck to his shoe.
@ Vermonter"Trump probably signed-off on Mueller's
appointment."So Trump gets to hand pick who investigates him? That's why we're teetering away from being a democracy. Too
many people like you want an authoritarian government with no checks or
balances. This investigation isn't going to be a sham and you will be
wildly disappointed that it won't be.
Anyone who is breathing a sigh of relief at this time is being a little naive.
Mueller can be fired. Rosenstein's choice can be overturned. If you
don't think Donald Trump is capable of firing Mr. Mueller anytime he gets
to close to the treasury or to the possibility of turning over the Trump carrot
cart--you haven't been paying attention. Nothing is too bombastic for this
President or his core supporters. We know that, right? If he were to disappear
on his upcoming trip and resurface in St. Petersberg demanding asylum from Mr.
Putin and tell his supporters that he was leading the country from afar and
he'll be coming back pretty soon--there would be a percentage of American
voters who would give him grin and a big thumbs up and thank him for helping to
get them back their 'mare-kuh.
If nothing is there, then the Trump crowd has nothing to fear. But the way they
are lashing out, Trump too, suggests that they all know that Trump and his team
do not have clean hands. This is going to be interesting.
"Shouldn't all collusions be investigated?"@worfOf course not, the liberals' version of the constitution has a
clause in it that no such independent investigations shall take place against
any Democrat. It's right there next to gay marriage and gun control.Fortunately, the actual Constitution makes no mentions of these things.
Unfortunately liberals couldn't care less about that.
Democrats are notably quiet on the appointment of Mueller. There are a few
Democrat surrogate legal-types singing Mueller's praise. But, he is not
exactly who they wanted. And, if Trump has done anything improper, Mueller is
not who Trump wants. But, Trump probably signed-off on Mueller's
appointment. Hmmm...It should be noted, Mueller is also a close
friend of Comey's. Other than Trump gone, I really don't
know what Democrats want. Of course, they want power--the presidency and
control of Congress. But, Democratic strategy is a bit puzzling right now. Now, if Mueller finds no evidence of Trump-Russia collusion, I'm
sure that Democrats will say he was bought and paid for by Trump (just like H.R.
McMaster). But, until that happens, I don't think Democrats know what to
do other than keep the general anti-Trump drumbeat going. Politically, a very smart move by Trump. This move has bought him time and
some goodwill with the American people.
Senator Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.: "and a lot of us are glad he's leaving
for a few days".Let us remind ourselves, however, that he not leaving
the planet. Very few people in the countries he wants to visit will actually
welcome him. Look for large scale demonstrations.
All fair minded people are delighted to have a "no nonsense" former FBI
director now in charge of this investigation. Contrary to popular terminology Mr
Mueller is not a "special prosecuter", because there is zero current
evidence of a crime-the official title is "special counsel", or
investigator. He will attack the stories, interview whoever he wants with severe
penalties for perjury. No one out here in the public world has seen any
evidence of Russian involvement, or any Trump collusion. All of the comments
are purely on the basis of individual prejudices, interpretting wild rumors.
Based on current headlines, one would think "no doubt about white house
guilt. Irresponsible reporters and media managers are providing no evidence,
only "anonymous" sources making claims of serious wrongdoing. There has
been zero evidence in the media, only second, third, or fourth hand anonymous
claims. Several Democrats insist on immediate impeachment without any stupid
evidence. The anonymous security violation claims are themselves evidence of
treasonous violations by the sources. The results will be interestings.
@Ralph:"The FBI and CIA have no idea what they are talking

about. These government agencies continue to make accusations against President
Trump using drummed-up fake evidence."There is no evidence, none

of time."And a complete waste of taxpayer money. Mueller will
need to hire maybe a hundred lawyers at a couple a hundred $ per year each to do
the leg work... plus office space for them. And I doubt any conclusion will be
forthcoming for at least three years. Why hurry when you're on the

"Terrific! Trump supporters are going to be panicking about this. No need,
because the truth is nothing to fear."Unless you happen to be
one of those who have been completely deluded by The Donald.
This sounds like an excellent first step. A completely non-partisan
investigation MUST continue.
This is a great development and I think a solid choice. Non-partisan is more
important than "bi-partisan" in a situation like this. Mueller served multiple years under both G.W. Bush and Obama, without much
fanfare or drama, having worked his way up the ranks starting in the Reagan
admin. Not much glamour in that route and I doubt many of us share his personal
politics But I have little doubt as to his loyalty to America and the rule of
law.We are months if not years away from fully unwinding this mess,
and this will be a sobering joyless process. Mueller will do his job, and we
should be patient as the onion skin is peeled back.
I can see the foxes and wolves snarling in the shadows, wanting to corner
Mueller and influence him. Mueller backed Comey when Comey told the Bush's
administration that they were doing something illegal with the wiretapping
scenario so I think Mueller is a good pick but I sure hope he won't crack
under the political pressures that are gonna be thrown at him by the cunning
foxes and carnivorous wolves in the national capital.

To deal with Trump's continuous political blunders get used to multiple
probes. The bravado and rhetoric that Trump fans loved is the very
thing that will keep Trump from accomplishing anything of significance.
Republicans are saying Trump was only "joking" when he asked Comey to
drop his investigation.Let's hope Robert Mueller lacks a sense

What a waste of American taxpayer money. There is absolutely no evidence that
Russia did anything to sway the presidential election. The reason
Trump won the election is that Hillary showed more and more incompetence plus
indications of poor health. Russia has nothing to do with Hillary's
incompetence or health.Further, Russia had nothing to do with
Hillary's illegal use of a private server and personal emails to store and
communicate classified information. And if Russia's Putin was involved in
bringing this to light, we need to thank him.
@patriot "oh boy -- that won't do for Democrats. They want Chuck

And so it begins. Mueller must be non-partisan to make this work. Our country
is at stake here, we the people deserve the truth!
An excellent choice. The important (really the only important) thing is to have
the investigation be handled appropriately and thoroughly to get to whatever the
truth is and Mueller should do a good job of that.
