So this lawyer has possible information about Hilary selling uranium to the Russians just after Bill Clinton just received $500,000 for an hour long speech in Moscow? YOU BET I'D BE GOING TO THAT MEETING. If I could get information that Clintons broke the law or had a quid pro quo (which many observers believe is obvious) agreement with the Russians it would be a no brainer. Why all the outrage? After all Obama said that believing that Russia was the biggest geopolitical enemy was 1980's diplomacy. What a joke.

    Hey Joe Capitalist -

    " . . . it is nothing but a witch hunt."

Well, that's what the Russians say.

Once again, Republican "Conservatives" are on the same side as America's enemies.

And as usual, we Democratic patriots are on America's side.

What I am not ok with is an unequal treatment of the law. When you want to accuse Trump or any other political opponent of treason when you want to give everyone who did the same thing but are political allies a complete pass, I have a problem with that.

Get back to me when you want to open investigations into every interaction between Hillary and Obama and a foreign government for monetary or political gain and have them tried for treason as well. When you are really serious about going after everyone and not just the GOP, then I will know this is a real issue for you. Otherwise it is nothing but a witch hunt.

    Airnaut,

Last I checked, soliciting prostitution, buying drugs, and robbery are real crimes. Getting 'dirt' on your political opponent is not.

    =========

Federal law, Section 30121 of Title 52, makes it a crime for any foreigner to contribute or donate money or some “other thing of value” in connection with an American election,
    or
for anyone to solicit a foreigner to do so.

    ...

But you go right ahead JoeCapitalist2 and keep right on defending crimes and treason, so long as it isn't drugs, prostitution, or bank robbery -- you seem ok with it.

right is right, wrong is wrong.
me thinks someone's moral compass is broken.

So basically Putin wanted Trump to win. So he sent laundered money and hackers to help.

Since when does Putin get a say in American elections?

  • TeachyMcTeacherPants Sandy, UT
    July 14, 2017 2:11 a.m.

It is allowed to find "dirt" on a candidate.
It is NOT allowed to take help on campaigns from a foreign entity.
    That is the difference.

The reason for this is it also allows other countries to support the candidate that would be most favorable to them. So in this example, Putin didn't like how tough Hilary was being on them. He wanted Trump. So he organized a hacking of the Democratic Party, planted fake stories and funneled money into SuperPacs to support Republican candidates that were friendly to Russia.

Is Russia now allowed to chose the American President?

    Airnaut,

Last I checked, soliciting prostitution, buying drugs, and robbery are real crimes. Getting 'dirt' on your political opponent is not. If it were then Obama, Hillary, Bernie, and just about every other politician would be in jail (as if any of them would be charged with a crime that they did actually commit like leaking top secret documents).

    @joe5

Let's look at your claim again,

"unlike the clear and irrefutable evidence of Obama using the intelligence community to monitor and spy on political opponents"

You then proceeded to state the the 'clear and irrefutable' evidence was an anonymous anecdote about your sister being audited by the IRS.

Unsubstantiated anecdotes do not equate to clear and irrefutable evidence. The IRS is not part of the 'intelligence community'

"you can accept that MSM silence means there is nothing there"

i'm not accepting MSM silence to mean anything. I'm asking for a citation of the evidence you claim is clear and irrefutable.

    @ joe5

If your friends belonged to a political action group masquerading as a charity, they deserved to be audited.

Besides, no one who supports this GOP can lecture us on morality. Other than lindsey Graham and John McCain, you folks have remained in a silent stupor regarding trump's family colluding with Russian agents.

I've never heard of a worse political scandal in my life.

Cleanse your inner vessel first before coming after democrats.

    Hey Joe5 -

RE: "Guess what ... 75% of the people she spoke to had also been audited and almost all of them for the very first time in their lives."

But 100% of those people are Republicans, and Republicans are not known for being truthful, are they?

In fact, studies show Democrats are much more honest than Republicans. Look it up. Check out the George Mason University study.

And let's not forget, the most prolific liar, cheat, and thief in the history of U.S. politics is the moral leader of the GOP.

That should tell you something, assuming you are honest with yourself.

    Can we assume that?

    silo:

Okay. Maybe I indulged in a bit of rhetoric by calling the evidence irrefutable. After all, some people will refute that the sun rose this morning or that it's raining when they're standing in a downpour getting drenched. What Obama did during the election was nothing new for him and his administration and it was certainly never going to be covered by MSM.

Obama has continually used government resources against his political opponents. In 2012, my sister, from San Diego, took a bus with 30+ other volunteers to Colorado in support of the Romney campaign. My sister, who had never been audited by the IRS, was audited the next year. This was upsetting to her so she contacted almost everyone else that had been on that bus. Guess what ... 75% of the people she spoke to had also been audited and almost all of them for the very first time in their lives.

Abusing his power by the unlawful use of government agencies was Obama's modus operandi for 8 years. Now, you can believe what you want and you can accept that MSM silence means there is nothing there. But you're only deluding yourself.

Republican administrations are known for their dirty deeds, aren't they?

Watergate was bad enough, but even Richard Nixon didn't stoop to treason.

Republican politicians are constantly setting new lows . . . Records that can ONLY be broken by other Republican politicians.

How do we know that the Trumps left this meeting without gaining damaging information on Clinton? Oh, because the Trumps claim that they didn't gain damaging information? Why the heck should we trust them? They've lied about everything so far. They have every motive to lie again.

Folks, what we are seeing from the right is justification of treason.

    Are you fine with this?

What sort of precedent are we setting?

Will China, North Korea, and Iran be colluding with political parties in the future as "operational research?" Repubs, are you fine with opening up this pandora's box?

Face it, American politics is as corrupt as it is in any Third World nation.

We need to drain the swamp and the cesspool they call Congress.

Every incumbent needs to be voted out of office.

Funny, I don't feel any quaking beneath my feet. I am wondering why the left is so focused on Trump getting the dirt instead of the actual dirt itself. Of course, nothing is proven yet (even Kaine, who wants Trump charged with treason, admits that) unlike the clear and irrefutable evidence of Obama using the intelligence community to monitor and spy on political opponents (especially Trump), Clinton (with help from the DNC) cheating Sanders out of a fair election, and deep state leaking classified information like a sieve.

I didn't vote for Trump but I am so glad he won. Clinton and Kaine have both shown their true character since the election and it terrifies me to think what a deeper mess our country would be in if they had been elected.

So what's not to like about this administration? DJIA at all time high. Jobs being created without other jobs being destroyed. Unemployment at lows we haven't seen for over a decade. Illegal immigration reversing its trend by going down, down, down. Rejecting the green scams and becoming more energy independent. Reason being brought back into the judiciary. I kind of like what I'm seeing.

This is what happens when you nominate such a profoundly unfit candidate. Inexperience and ineptitude are not good reasons to vote for a candidate. Remind me again...why did the GOP think otherwise?

No American -- liberal or otherwise -- is enjoying the grim slog our country is merely beginning. We are at least 2 years out from understanding, much less rectifying, the full scale and scope of Russia's infiltration of the 2016 election.

But I thought we at least knew the major areas of inquiry. Which makes this Don Jr. situation so unnerving.

This meeting was not on anyone's radar. It makes one wonder what other one-off violations are floating around.

Don Jr. seems genuinely oblivious how the e-mail he released perfectly maps to the elements a prosecutor would need to convict for a campaign finance violation. Not merely a confession, Don Jr. practically drafted the prosecutor's summation to the jury.

This behavior suggests an insufficient conscience, an inability to recognize one's own wrong-doing. Without the attendant guilt and fear of consequence, these small one-off violations will just pile up like dust-bunnies under the sofa. Out of sight, out of mind.

A man shows up and says:

    You got the stuff?
    How much for sex?
    This is a robbery.

He is arrested, even though he did get the drugs, the sex, or the cash.
Regardless if he actually did it,
he has already let his intent to break the law to know.

Intent to commit the crime is enough evidence to be accused of actual crime.

We were told there'd be dirt - I love it

...clearly shows the intent of Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort [Trump campaign manager at the time] all on behalf of Trump campaign.

....just like showing up at a whorehose, drughouse, or bank and saying what you are there for.
